Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG which was formerly the Earth Day Network. It now includes one billion people in more than 193 countries

The first Earth Day was celebrated here in the United States. In 1990, Denis Hayes, the original national coordinator in 1970, took it international and organized events in 141 nations.

You can help protect our Earth in many ways such as:

  1. Clean up a beach
  2. Plant a tree
  3. Walk or ride a bike
  4. Shop at local farmers’ markets
  5. Use reusable bags
  6. Use refillable water bottles
  7. Volunteer to clean up around your community

What will you do today, this week, this year to make a difference in our world?
