Choosing the perfect outfit is a daily ritual, starting with a pair of pants, a shirt, and possibly a jacket. Then the pivotal decision of whether or not to wear socks sets the stage for the final touch – the choice of shoes. Something so small that depends on everything or absolutely nothing as it is one of the most unique personal outlets.
Numerous tactics, including those from WikiHow and my personal insight, can come in handy when selecting the ideal pair of kicks.
- Consider honing in on a certain color that is represented throughout an outfit.
- Avoiding strict color matching, unless a “groutfit” is in order, for a lazy day or statement fit.
- Play around with color theory and mixtures of shades.
- Adapt to the season, opting for something comfortable and warm for a cold winter day or something airy and colorful to enter the warmer months.
- Match the occasion,– classy footwear for a nice dinner, sturdy options like tennis shoes or hiking boots for a spontaneous adventure.
- The versatility of a plain pair of white shoes cannot be overstated.
- Ever heard of the sandwich or wrap method? Match your shoes to the color of the shirt on top, or match a color to a slight accent in the shoes.
The choice often boils down to selecting the pair that brings the most happiness, a decision influenced by personal taste. Shoes have the possibility to elevate a look in seconds, the possibility to embrace who we are. They are the very last thing that we put onto our bodies each and every day. Why shouldn’t we take a little pride in how we style them or how they represent us?
I have a pair of bright magenta Adidas Gazelles and let me tell you, when I opened that package I had absolutely no clue in my mind what occasion, outfit, or adventure those shoes were gonna take me on. The other day I threw them on with a plain pair of jeans and black tee with slightly pink designs surrounded by other fun colors, the wrap method. After taking these shoes out for a day I realized how special they were and how well they embodied aspects of myself.
Some people have their favorite pair of shoes that in their eyes go with absolutely every outfit possible. Like Camden with his Jordan 4s that of which he wears to school, work and they have even been to prom. Or Brady who has a pair of In-N-Out Vans. A shoe that shows off something Brady is very fond of, delicious and cheap burgers. Or what about no shoes… When June was at a summer camp she became close friends with a girl after discussing why she was not wearing shoes. The answer being… just because she felt like it.
She was also 11.
Shoes tell the world where we are going and where we’ve been, shoes signify who we are and what we represent, shoes tell a story each and every time we slip them on. This is also a sign to splurge on a new pair.
