Chatfield Parking Lot Etiquette.
School parking lot etiquette is crucial for keeping everyone safe and ensuring smooth traffic flow during busy times. Students, drivers, parents, and teachers should always follow posted speed limits, stay alert for pedestrians, and park only in designated spaces. It’s important to be patient, courteous, and follow all signs and staff instructions, especially during drop-off and pick-up. In the Chatfield parking lot there are two exits and two entrances along with four parking lots for the Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and Staff. Take a minute to read over some of the rules that we have for the Chatfield Parking lot!
Drive Slowly & Stay Alert
- Speed limits in school lots are usually 5–10 mph.
- Watch for kids walking or biking—they can be unpredictable.
- Stay off your phone while driving!
Park Only in Marked Spaces

- The Bus lane near the upper Junior Lot is NOT A DROP OFF. Drop off your students in the designated drop off area.
- The Designated Drop off Area is by the Sophomore and Visitor Parking lot.
- Don’t block fire lanes, crosswalks, or others’ vehicles.
- Avoid teacher/staff-only spaces unless permitted.
- Don’t park in designated Painted Senior parking spaces.
- Don’t park in the Visitor parking spaces.
Be Patient & Courteous
- Everyone’s in a hurry, but honking, cutting in line, or aggressive driving just makes things worse.
- Let others merge or back out when needed.
Accident Etiquette
- After a school-related car accident, your priorities should be your safety and gathering information about the accident. First, ensure everyone’s safety by moving to a safe location if possible. If you are hit or have hit another vehicle stay calm and dont run off.
- Take photos and gather evidence of the damage to the vehicle.
- Possibly report the accident to the School Security or the school SOR Officer Kelley.
Have a Parking Pass!

- It’s extremely important to have a School Parking Pass which proves that you have paid the School fee that allows you to park at Chatfield for the School year.
- You must show your Drivers license and proof of payment when you collect your parking pass.
- You can pay for the School Parking pass online and in person. Pay for your parking pass in person at the financial office inside the school. To pay a fee through Infinite Campus, log in to the Parent Portal, Navigate to the Fee tab, select the correct student and add the desired fee to your cart. Proceed to your cart and select your payment method.
- If you don’t have a parking pass and you continue to park in the School Parking Lot you will receive a $20 parking ticket.
- Talk to R1 in the security office if you receive a ticket, you will have 10 days to pay or dispute a parking ticket.
