Broncos on the Rise
Denver began the 2025 season with some momentum. Through six weeks, Bo Nix leads the team with 1,277 passing yards and 9 passing touchdowns. While J.K. Dobbins has built up 442 rushing yards and 4 rushing scores. The Broncos’ offense ranks 10th in total yards, averaging 355.2 yards per game and boasting the 4th-best rushing average in the league.
But it’s Denver’s defense that has turned fans’ heads. Linebacker Nik Bonitto has recorded 8 sacks already and is riding off the momentum of a massive contract extension that made him the highest-paid non-QB in Broncos history. In a recent 13-11 win over the Jets, the D held New York to a -10 net passing yard and totaled 9 sacks. This game was one of the most dominant single-game displays in the Broncos’ franchise history. But still, Denver has some major flaws this season. Denver converts only 36.6% of third downs, ranking in the bottom third of the NFL. Penalties have also been a recurring issue, with costly infractions derailing promising drives and momentum. And in late-game situations, the Broncos have a troubling pattern of failing in close one-score games.
If Denver is going to make a deep run in the season, it must maintain defensive dominance on the field and improve its offensive performance with discipline and consistency. With a balanced rushing attack, a quarterback growing into his role, and a strong front line that can harass opposing quarterbacks, the Broncos are poised to surprise many and possibly become a contender in the AFC.
