Hilarious Halloween Movies for the Fall!
During October, around the annual Holiday of Halloween, we typically associate the season with scary horror movies. But the Halloween season has additional Comedy movies which are very Iconic and in a way carry the season, so to speak.
- Hocus Pocus (1993, PG):

- The ultimate Halloween cult classic. Three hilariously over-the-top 17th-century witches, the Sanderson Sisters, are accidentally brought back to modern-day Salem. Their total confusion about things like paved roads and alarm clocks is the source of endless laughter.
- Beetlejuice (1988, PG):
- Director Tim Burton’s surreal masterpiece. After a quiet, recently deceased couple finds their home invaded by a pretentious living family, they hire the mischievous, manic “bio-exorcist” Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) to scare them away. It’s a visually stunning, goth-infused comedy that is relentlessly original and darkly funny.
- The Addams Family (1991, PG-13):

- A masterclass in dry, sophisticated humor. The Addams family embraces all things morbid, dark, and strange with utter sincerity. Their humor comes from the way they interact with the mundane world—they aren’t spooky monsters; they are simply a perfectly loving, gothic family.
- Scary Movie 2 (2001, R):

- This film, along with the entire franchise, is pure, high-energy satire. For older audiences, it’s a non-stop barrage of over-the-top, absurdist gags aimed squarely at classic haunted house and supernatural films like The Haunting. It’s a ridiculous, boundary-pushing parody that doesn’t take a single second seriously. (Note: This film is rated R)
- Ghostbusters (1984, PG):

- A witty, effects-driven adventure. When three former university professors start a paranormal extermination service, the laughs come as fast as the flying green slime. It’s the perfect mix of smart-aleck dialogue, incredible chemistry between the leads, and classic ’80s blockbuster action
- Hotel Transylvania (2012, PG):

- An animated comedy that introduces a new generation to classic monsters. Dracula runs a luxury hotel for monsters to escape the human world, but his plans go awry when a goofy human backpacker stumbles into the resort. The film is a blast of fast-paced, high-energy comedy with a heartwarming message about acceptance.
