We all likely have different ways of celebrating Veterans Day, all of which highlight how important it is to honor our Vets.  There are many common misconceptions about Veterans Day, some of which are very important to know and recognize. The most important thing to remember about the holiday is that its intention is to honor our veterans of all branches of service.

At Chatfield, there are some special staff members who served our country that we wish to recognize.

  • Mrs. Grimes was a Petty Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard for four and a half years.
  • Officer Kelly was a Military Policeman in the Air Force.
  • Mr. Lerudis was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard for ten years.
  • Mr. Stukey was a Senior Airman in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
  • Mr. Taylor was in the Peace Corps for three years. He served in the Republic of Kiribati as a Health and Community Development Volunteer.
  • Mrs. Vaninger was a Captain in the Army for five years.

We thank them for their courage and dedication to our country and school.
