Mindset of a Senior
May 11, 2021
At the age of 18, you are officially an adult. Usually, at this time you are either about to be a senior in high school or you already are. Senior year is probably one of the most stressful years out of the four. Most of us would think a junior year and honestly, it’s all about perspective but senior year is the year things start to get real. Your parents start asking you what your “plans” are. All your life you have your parents, teachers, instructors, siblings telling you what to do, and then all of a sudden you’re supposed to make this huge life choice and just “figure things out”. Scary right? Let me tell you, there’s no wrong answer.
The first thing you gotta understand is, it’s your life, your future. Not your parents, or friends, only your’s. It is your decision what you want to do after high school, your decision what you want to do for a career. But that doesn’t mean that they won’t be there to support you along the way. Your friends, and especially your family are the people who are going to get you through this transition from high school student to adulthood. Don’t be afraid to lean on them a little, ask for help.
If you haven’t already, you need to start thinking about what you want to do after high school and more importantly, what your future looks like. You need to figure out what job you want and how you’re gonna get there. Some of you are going to choose a career you think is perfect for you, and later on realize it isn’t for you, that’s okay. Start fresh, find your path, I promise you, you have time.
Now I won’t lie to you, is there a chance you could completely fall on your face, yeah totally, but it’s in those moments we learn and rise to make some of our greatest achievements. Take a risk, take that leap, fail, succeed, live your life! There’s this quote that I read and I love it, “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney.
