The first ever Opening Day in Colorado was played on April 9th, 1993, in Mile High Stadium (home of the Denver Broncos) against the Montreal Expos. It was the very first game in franchise history, and the Rockies ended up winning that game 11-4, which was a legendary way to introduce our newly minted franchise! The Rockies’ all-time home opening day record is 17-13. This year, the Rockies faced the Tampa Bay Rays for their home opener!

The best restaurants to socialize and eat at before the game are McGregor Square (opened in June 2021), the View House Ballpark Eatery (opened in March 2013), Tom’s Watch Bar (opened in June 2021), and even the Denver Union Station. McGregor Square consists of a handful of restaurants along with a large TV screen that plays the Rockies game in case you didn’t go to the game. Although, in a way, it makes you feel like you’re actually at the game because of the ballpark-like surroundings. The View House is a very popular spot for a pre-game meal because of its immediate location near Coors Field. It also contains fun outdoor yard games like bean bags, giant Jenga, and more. Tom’s Watch Bar is a relatively new sports bar that consists of many TV screens spread throughout, where you can also watch the games. The most unique part about it is that, on the second floor, it has a golf simulator where you can get in a few swings! The last spot worth visiting on home opening gameday is Union Station because it’s historic and relatively close to Coors Field. It also has tasty food options.
